Appeal for our missing trophies - have you got one?

Updated: Nov 18, 2019

The Hyne Cup event is an annual race between the fastest eights that Walton Rowing Club and Weybridge Rowing Clubs can put out. The winning club gets the Hyne Cup trophy. On the same day other crews from clubs on our reach, including Weybridge Ladies and St George’s College, take part in what has become a mini head race. There are competitions for the fastest Women’s crew, for the fastest Men’s Novice eight and for the fastest Men’s IM3 eight.

There is, or was, a trophy for each of these competitions: the Henry Stebbing Cup for the women, the Allwork Cup for the novices and the Murtough Cup for IM3. Unfortunately, neither the Allwork Cup nor the Murtough Cup has been seen recently.

Were you in a crew that won one of them a few years ago and someone took it home?

Enquiries at Walton and St George’s have failed to produce either so far. If you have any idea of their whereabouts, please let John Burnett know.
